Hello, I am an artist, working with bees. your page was very informative. do you know of any beekeepers living near calgary, alberta, canada? I would like to pay them a visit, I would desperately love to see how a real apiary runs and also get some experience handling bees. I hope to eventually get my own hive.

I'm interested in usung essential oils instead of apstain strips and also to cut the tearly cost of treating bee's for the social charter called mites. I live in central Ohio and have a decent winter weather so far. I'm worried with so different weather changes as far as temperature that bee's will be breaking the cluster and wiil freeze like a lot colonies did last spring in this area.

We have also included a few bee facts for children to learn. The book has been illustrated by a retired Disney artist, David Michener. We will be attempting beekeeping as a hobby this Spring. I have a cool trip for small bee keepers how about over 600 lbs of honey from 1 yes 1 hive you think I'm insane ---this will be a lot of work but it is posible and the honey quality improves---------I mean alot of work but it isn't that hard if you are comfortable with your bees it takes sending me an email to find out how. Now I also am interested to find out if any of you has been able to achievve such results with 4 supers and a queen excluder [that was a hint] as well as a question ---=== Nice site------------------------ keeping bees since 1967--------

? Volunteered ? as project leader for 4-H in our County in Texas(comal - just north of San Antonio). Would appreciate any donations of beekeeping equipment that is not being used which we could use in the setup of our hives. Would gladly pay any shipping on useable equipment and furnish reciepts for tax donation purposes. I have a small hive in operation for 2 years and worked my father's hive growing up. Any information from 4-H beekeepers on project curriculum appreciated too. Thanks in advance, Tom

Africanized bees are all over Los Angeles... so too are mexican squirrels who are quickly giving the gray squirrels a run for their money because they seem to be more equipped to handle harsh environments.

Hello, I heed some bee advice. I have a one acre grape vineyard and during harvest the bees and wasps are quite prevelant. This results in multiple stings to the pickers. As I try to convince my friends and relatives to help me pick I would like to try to reduce the number of stinging creatures on the grapes at this time. Do you have any suggestions that would not hurt the bees or the resulting wine? Thanks for any help you can offer, Mike Hoops
